Competing on court... Rivalry between regions... Countries in contention!

In a region with a history of rivalry both on and off the volleyball court, top clubs and top coaches have organized a progressive group of international cooperation.

EngelholmFalkenbergHylteÖrkelljunga as well as Danish clubs Gentofte and Holte have joined forces in order to bring growth and development to this volleyball region. The goal is to build from already successful systems and share ideas to benefit 1) the coaches 2) the clubs and 3) the volleyball community. Through networking, new forms of cooperation, and information sharing this new Scandinavian powerhouse will be strengthened and will hopefully inspire other volleyball regions to follow in this path of cooperation.

Örkelljunga Volleyball Club in Sweden with Danish Coach Martin Olafsen has taken the first step in inviting his colleagues to discuss future collaboration. The result: The Scandinavian Coaches Collegiate (SCC) has been formed.

(The SCC Shield: The official arms/shield of Skåne, Halland & Copenhagen combined with the colours of the Swedish/Danish Flags as well as succes for volleyball)

In monthly meetings, tactics for improving both the sport and club organization will be discussed. The initial meeting on the 1st of February was intended to find out HOW the cooperation should be conducted. Combining input from the participating clubs, the Scandinavian Coaches Collegiate was founded.

The agenda for the following meeting held on the 1st of March included club presentations. The objective was to get an understanding of fellow competitors and SCC contributors. By doing so we have a foundation from which we can build further discussions. Future seminars will include the following topics:

- how to build a better volleyball club
- how to get more and better players involved in the sport
- how to reach one's potential as a coach
- how to work tactically and mentally in competition
- how to implement tactical resources, such as video scouting for the players' benefit
- how to build development and performance in the same systems
- how to improve technical skills for different positions
- how to optimize the Nordic Club Competition (NCC) and future Nordic collaborations

The Swedish (SVBF) and Danish (DVBF) Volleyball Federations have been invited to participate and are informed of SCC activities through Paul Engström (Developmental Manager, SVBF) and Mikael Trolle (Elite Sports Manager, DVBF).

National team coaches of both federations are also invited according to the meeting's schedule, demand, and current focus. The SCC does not have the intention of only developing itself but also to share knowledge and ideas for the benefit of the entire Scandinavian Volleyball Community. In addition we want to be able to influence the Nordic Club Competition (NCC) and the Northern Europe Volleyball Zonal Association (NEVZA)

Martin Olafsen (ÖVK) states: The first step that needs growth is the key leader. If I want a better and stronger community for me and my players I have to start with myself. What better way to discuss and develop yourself than to listen and share ideas with the best of the best in the region?

Ismo Peltoarvo (FVBK): Development, learning and sharing are innate parts of Falkenberg’s club culture and important factors to any coach with the will to improve. Our club, coaches and staff are eager to pursue excellence and create success for the sport of volleyball at a local, regional and national level.

Claes Svensson (Hylte Volley):  An excellent forum for the Southern Scandinavian club volleyball region. The volleyball community is not very big at the moment and hopefully this will be a starting point for its growth.

Tina Celinder Nygren (Engelholm VK): An amazing opportunity to get inspired, to help volleyboll grow in the region as well as to encourage more people to get involved in our sport. I think we have a strong region with qualified people in the leading positions and am honored to be part of such a strong group of leaders. I think we can learn a lot from each other.
